Key Responsibilities
- Providing support for UNIX, Linux and Vmware infrastructure
- Maintenance of UNIX based servers with Solaris and Linux flavors
- Resolving incident management calls for critical issues in the production, test and the development environments with root cause analysis and after following the established escalation procedures
- Coordinating with Network, Storage and other teams to ensure 24/7 availability of systems
- Applying change requests on the hardened systems after seeking necessary approvals from the change committee and security audits team
- Applying system patches in the live, development environments after simulating on the test machines
- Interacting with the software vendors including opening a service call, providing logs, and acting on the advice received from the vendor
- Conducting periodic health and performance checks issues
- Scheduling/performing Business Continuity Planning, Power down drills, Data Centre migration, Firmware Upgrades and other preventive tasks
- Disaster Recovery setup and testing for recovery scenarios
- Rebuilding and upgrading UNIX, Linux and VMware servers
- Coordinating with business to schedule and carry out regular maintenance and preventive activities
- Participate in On-Call rotation
Key Skills
- Strong expertise in administration of Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, SVM/LVM, VxVM, VCS , Vmware
- Prior experience working on monitoring tools
- Minimum 6+ years of experience working in a large data center handling multiple environments supporting a large user base of 10,000+ users
- Ability to work in a demanding and high pressure environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal skills and past experience in working in a
- Expertise in writing Shell scripts for automation of routine tasks
Qualification: University Degree in Science/Engineering with certifications on Solaris, Red Hat and Vmware
