Our client is a 90 years old diversified group operating in Caribbean (Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago), Asia (Saudi Arabia, India) and Africa (South Africa). The group plans to recruit Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO). The Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO) is the executive leader of the EIS Division. The hired person will have strategic and tactical responsibility for the alignment of the EIS resources to the organizational strategy. S/he directs, coordinates and performs duties where applicable in the different country-level EIS departments or practice areas.
Global Infrastructure Solutions
1. Leads the development and deployment of the Group’s current technology infrastructure and aligns it with the Group’s strategic directions.
2. Strategizes the deployment of the new IT infrastructure across the Group.
Group Intelligent Solutions (IS)
1. Acts as the executive sponsor of the global enterprise resource planning systems deployed across the Group.

2. Acts as the executive sponsor of the deployment of global intelligent solutions for various business functions outside of the global ERP system together with their respective line Directors and Executives.

3. Recommends new intelligent solutions, which help to increase the Group’s efficiency.

Information Risk & Security Management (IRSM)
1. Leads the development and deployment of practical strategies that address internal and external threats, mobile workforce safety, network security, security metrics, and electronic evidence oversight.
2. Oversees the process for the identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting of risks affecting the Group in terms of the EIS investments and initiatives.
3. Directs planning, formulation and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Systems Architecture & Engineering:
1. Approves, prioritizes, and controls projects and the projects portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.
2. Provides executive sponsorship of the EIS projects portfolio.
3. Leads the overall strategic design of the EIS across the group in terms of the systems deployed.
4. Oversees the efficient allocation and utilization of EIS resources in terms of corporate plans, policies, standards, assignment, focus, deployment and prioritization.

Technology Innovation & Application
1. Leads the exploration of novel ways to use currently-available technologies
2. Acts as the lead Executive who provides technical and business advice on IT-related matters.
3. Coordinates and facilitates consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
4. Keeps current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact

Finance and Supply Chain
1. Develops divisional budgets together with the departmental teams.
2. Approves divisional expenses up to the financial approval limits.
3. Assesses and monitors each divisional department’s performances based on financial targets.
4. Recommends the addition and removal of product and service providers.
5. Approves major services contracts up to the financial approval limits.

Human Resources Management
1. Builds strategic relationships between internal IT team and the external entities.
2. Supervises hiring, engagement, retention, and development of all EIS staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and recruitment strategy.

The candidate for the role of Group Chief Information Officer should have a passion for information technology and systems. S/he should the consummate learner and experimenter with current and future technologies. The candidate should be willing to work in growing organization(s) and be prepared to implement new systems.

Advisory Role
The Group Chief Information Officer provides advisory services to other strategic business units on enterprise information technology and systems areas. The senior team provide functional advice to the when required and requested.

Reporting Hierarchy
The Group Chief Information Officer reports to the Group Chief Executive Officer. The Vice Presidents / Department Heads in Enterprise Information Systems Division reports to the role.

Education
The candidate should have as a minimum training in a BSc degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or closely related field. The candidate should have a MSc degree in Commerce, Management Sciences, Technology Management or related fields. The candidate should have more 10 years of senior level / executive experience at a technology leader.
