Job Responsibilities / Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Converting high level business and vendor requirements into detailed project specs
- Managing project plans, delivery schedules, project documentation and financial budgeting approvals
- Oversight of schedules and activities, tracking progress, and communicating regular status updates to the key stakeholders
- Identify and budget required project resources and get the necessary allocations
- Clearly and timely communicate project goals, expectations and deliverable to team members and the project management
- Provide technical leadership to the project team
- Identify critical path dependencies, scope related issues and prepare a proper contingency plan
- Proactively identify and manage project risks and escalate these to the Management, Steering Committee and other project stakeholders and secure the necessary approvals for mitigation
- Identify and manage external compliance and regulatory issues related to the project
- Post completion review, identifying the project success/failure factors, lessons learnt and preparing the final project closure report
- Perform capacity planning and system sizing
- Vendor management, including quotations for hardware / software / licensing items and final contract terms negotiation
- The job involves international travel to other project locations
Hardware overview: Intel Servers (Blade architecture), Virtualization (VMware), EMC Storage and Cisco
Job Requirements (Qualifications/Certifications/Experience/Skills etc.)
- Minimum 8-10 years experience working in a large data center environment preferably with a disaster recovery setup
- 3-5 Years of leadership or managerial experience managing internal and external consultants
- Demonstrable leadership skills and expertise managing large and complex infrastructure projects
- Should be able to work in a fast-paced, time critical production environment
- Expertise in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for the production issues
- Strong analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize tasks is very essential
- Should be able to resolve team conflicts and issues
- Can work both independently and as a team is crucial
- Ability to lead and to motivate the project team,
- Strong oral and written communications skills in order to communicate clearly and effectively with the team and other stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office tools viz. MS Project, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or ITIL certification will be a definite advantage. Experience working in a large global bank’s data center will be a big plus.
Education: Engineering Degree in Computer Sciences or MCA
Experience: 8+ yrs of strong infrastructure delivery experience
